Tottenham won important 3 points in Ipswich
Tottenham Hotspur defeated Ipswich Town away with result of 4:1. It wasn't easy like final result is showing and in the beginning it looked like Ipswich Town is much closer to score goal than Spurs. First minute first big chance for them and "save who is alive" situation in our box. I am talking about Vicario save and clearance off the line. In second minute they penetrated again on that side but failed to score. In 5th they hit post after set piece. You have the picture how shocking Tottenham Hotspur was in oppening 5-10 minutes. Spurs coach sent this line up to the game: Viccario, Spence, Gray, Danso, Udogie, Bergvall, Bentancur, Kulusevski, Son, Tel and Johnson. I was pleased Spence was on the pitch on right back position, but not with fact Maddison was on the banch. I had doubts about Son after last game and would love to see Tel on wing and Scarlett on striker position. Shocking start showed that Gray can't stop Delop who made havoc in every attack. Fortunately soon after it was clear that Godfrey from Ipswich can't stop Son who played very good in first half. He got two good balls in space, tricked Godfrey and made two assists both converted into goal by Brennan Johnson. First was nice low ball on back post inside 5 meters for tap in and second was smart pass toward him for big chance and goal for 0:2. On second goal Johnson nicely and cool sent ball inside the back of the net with left foot. Home side lost a bit morale after that. They were better, deserved to score, but instead they conceded two! Fans were down too, but they pulled one goal back after nice combination of Jack Clarke who passed the ball toward Omari Hutchinson who was alone inside the box and made very good attempt giving no chance to Vicario to save it. Nothing much happen until half time. Situation in second half became dangerous. Hosts scored one goal rightfully disallowed for obvious and big offside. Tottenham bench decided to make some changes Porro went in, Udogie out which meant Spence moved on the left and James Maddison came in instead of Johnson. What kind of football master he is he showed after around 13 minutes when he threw Ipswich defense into trance. Spence sent ball toward him, he entered inside the box with 3 or 4 home players but smuggled ball back toward Djed who fired on goal. Ball hit defender on it's way toward goal just to end up under the crossbar for goal, 3:1 and game over for home side! I must say that luck has been well deserved by Spence because he was our best player in last few games. Few minutes before that goal Odobert and Scarlett came in to replace Son and Tel. Dane Scarlett ran a lot and had his moment when he won aerial duel to send ball by head into space for Dejan Kulusevski around center and Swede finished action with very effective goal. He finally did what he tried so many times which is to make space for shot with left foot and to fire up proper shot after which ball bounced off the far post inside the net. Goal meant a lot to him just like first Premier League goal for Spurs meant a lot to Djed Spence. What I liked in this game is fact that Danso showed he's competent defender. He played really good today. Bergvall showed he can go around couple of players at least against this level of opposition, Son played good football in first half, Maddison's ability to smuggle the ball between 3 opponent players was also awesome.Spence also went through two in one moment. Johnson is on right place in right time and always ready to end chance, but with opponent in front he isn't that good. Tel doesn't look to me like striker, he felt a lot on the ground and lost the ball in bad way in couple of occasions. He's trying hard, running a lot, my opinion is he should be moved to wing. Dane Scarlett is available striker and should have chance to play more so we can judge if he is ready for Premier League football or need another loan next season. So far he looks to me like he's ready. This assist after winning aerial duel was clever and I am glad Dejan Kulusevski converted that pass into assist with nice goal. Here are some stats from this game: It's amazing but this was first victory of Tottenham against Ipswich in Premier League in this century, Home side won 3 or 4 of them, but today was day of the Roosters. Did you know that Ipswich Town is the only English club which never lost European game at home ? I find that from reporter during watching the game. It's club of big tradition who played against teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter and teams like that in the past. Spurs now have 33 points, didn't advance much on the table of this season, but there is other table which is showing how many wins each club has since Premier League started and it would be nice to remain in top 6 there too! This manager and staff should give more chance to academy players Scarlett and Moore to see if they are ready for Premier League football or do they need loan move next season ? Other players like Dorrington, Donley, Phillips should be in the mix for first team next season if you ask me. Fun fact: before the game Dejan Kulusevski has been asked who is the most underrated player in Spurs at the moment and he answered Scarlett. Dane returned him with assist today. Away fans chanted "We want Levy out" during this game showing that couple of recent wins didn't change the mood and cancel all wrong doings Daniel Levy and current ENIC board did to this club! Next opponent is Manchester City at home in few days. Let's see if this group of players can be competitive against such strong club again. Until then COYS!
